Sometimes, I wonder what I would look like if Leonardo da Vinci had painted me instead. I bet people today will talk about 'Mona Issa.' Now, that's a thought. Will my smile intrigue people as La Gioconda did? So, in my blessed boredom, I dabbled into the forbidden black arts called Photoshop.. and presto! Mona Lisa has just found a worthy contender ( unless that's Leo's self-portrait, urgh! )
That's just a start with what boredom can do to me, or to anyone. I guess, masters and geniuses written in those dusty history books were simply bored of the way things were - which inspired them to work on something marvelous. Like, who would have thought that the Egyptians can create something as majestic as the great pyramid of Giza? Maybe, they were simply bored of the plain, old desert that they fancy making their own version of a modern-day Vegas hotel?
Think about it. If no one was bored of the way things were, no one will be curious enough to forge metal and stone. Or else, we'll all be living in the stone age right now and probably scream 'Yaba-daba-doo!' I think people get it wrong when they think boredom is evil. I'd say the opposite. Boredom has been a catalyst of change for thousands of years. Boredom inspired curiosity... making fools dream.
I don't know about you. I even think you're reading this post out of boredom and gee, did I shed some light of wisdom? See, even now, boredom makes you rethink the way you view things. Ah, the proverbial wake up call, unless you're living in a sepia-colored world.
This is just the start of a long quest for me. I write. I share. You read. I'm embracing boredom as my new BFF ( Best Friends Forever ) and this friendship will turn into something wonderful.
Simply Bored. Writing out of boredom.
Issa, the bored author of this blog
